Our client is a start-up supply chain/logistics company geared towards sustainability, established in 2018 with the mission to kerb global food wastage. Their platform connects surplus stock with local food and beverage outlets, reducing waste and boosting efficiency.

Our client has set ambitious targets, aiming to save 2 million tonnes of food and cut 18 million tonnes of carbon emissions by 2025. They are looking to get an experienced Head of Operations with a focus in operations management for the logistics or supply chain space. The company aspires to modernise the regional food supply chain and is looking for someone willing to take on that challenge. They strive for practical solutions and collective action in the pursuit of sustainability for a more equitable future.

ROLE MISSION 

As the Head of Operations, you will be responsible for the overall strategic and operational management of the company. You will collaborate with the founders, the senior leadership team and other executives to develop and implement business strategies, establish and achieve operational goals, and drive the company's growth. You will leverage on previous successes and create new initiatives to drive stability across all business units. The ability to lead and influence dynamic managers from various backgrounds is key in the execution of any plan.

RESPONSIIBILITIES 

  • Collaborate with the executive team to align operations with the company's vision, mission, and strategic objectives.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive operational strategies, including setting performance goals, managing budgets, and overseeing resource allocation.
  • Function as the operational counterpart to the CEO; provide leadership, guidance, direction and consistency to organisation at large.
  • Ensure cohesive and effective cross-functional collaboration amongst all business units.
  • Drive change throughout the organisation as it grows and ensure flawless implementation and execution of plans.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, ensuring high levels of employee
  • engagement, motivation, and performance.
  • Develop, monitor and analyse OKRs and KPIs to identify areas for improvement and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Reinforce a culture of high performance by creating systems of accountability to ensure the firm’s goals are met.
  • Oversee supply chain management, including procurement, inventory control, distribution, and logistics.
  • Recruit, retain and develop high performing A-player talents.
  • Provide a sounding board to a founder and/or senior managers on matters of strategy, execution, operations, and structure.

 

 

IDEAL TALENT 

  • 8-12 years of operations management experience, ideally in food or logistics sectors.
  • Ownership mindset with prior P&L responsibilities.
  • Strong data-driven, analytical orientation for informed decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Proven problem-solving skills, adept at launching and managing complex projects or businesses.
  • Proficiency in team building from inception.
  • Comprehensive supply chain, logistics, and procurement expertise.
  • Track record in driving operational excellence, cost reduction, and process enhancement.
  • Effective communicator, team player, and servant leader; capable of influencing diverse industry personas and white-collar professionals
